Flying Eyes Sunglasses Review
Perfect for wearing under a helmet
Flying Eyes sunglasses was created by a pilot initially for pilots, however, once the products were introduced into the market, he found that they have loads of other applications. Specifically, they are also perfect for wearing under a helmet.
Functional, Comfortable and Stylish
If you ride a motorcycle or wear a ski helmet, or if you have a freestyle mountain bike helmet, you know that it’s challenging to find glasses that don’t squeeze your head. In fact, some of them are impossible to get on while wearing the helmet, so you don’t bother wearing them at all, subjecting your eyes to harmful UV rays and to discomfort.
Not a problem with these sunglasses – they come with three convertible temples, one of which is of interest to us helmet wearers.
The super thin temples are 70% thiner than regular temples (which are also included) and slide beneath your helmet easily and keep your glasses in place with no painful squeezing. The sunglasses are made with lightweight, unbreakable Resilamide, which is very robust and can stand up to a lot of abuse – for example if you forget your sunglasses in your backpack.
Super Comfortable
These sunglasses are super comfortable and stay on your head snugly making them perfect for outdoor sports. The soft nose pad keeps the sunglasses properly positioned and balanced for optimal fit and comfort. They are optically correct, and feature shatterproof polycarbonate lenses with 100% UV400 protection.
Lens Options
There are three different lens options for these sunglasses.
- Standard solid neutral gray tint
- Polarized, perfect for use around oceans, rivers or lakes, where glare is an issue
- Gradient gray tint, excellent at blocking out harsh sunlight through the windshield
- Transitions Photochromic lenses, which are triggered by UV light, lightens indoors and darkens outdoors
What you get
The sunglasses themselves, which are available in a matte or glossy frame finish in black, come with a soft storage bag that doubles as a lens wipe, a hard zippered case for storing and protecting your sunglasses, and three different temple configurations. The strap is for use under headsets; the thin temples are for wearing under helmets, and for everyday wear, you get regular, thick temples. It takes seconds to swap the temples for a different style.
Prescription lenses available
There are three types of sunglasses that you can purchase, and on each you have four different lenses to choose from. The regular “Hawk” sunglasses retail for $169. You can also order bifocals, which are available in two heights – high and low, that have a magnified reader on the bottom of the lens. Prescription are also available. Simply visit your optometrist for your current eye prescription, and send this to Flying Eyes which will do the rest. These are perfect for us who need some corrective vision but don’t wear contacts, such as myself!
