Hit by Avalanche: Everest Base Camp Video
The very sad event, the earthquake in Nepal on April 25 caused massive destruction. Among the destruction, huge avalanches were reported in the Himalayas, and one of those hit Everest Base Camp, causing many injuries and deaths.
The slide swept away many tents and people. It is reported that at least 18 climbers were killed and more injured in this avalanche that hit Base Camp.
The earthquake was registered 7.8. on the Richter scale.
The slide was captured on video which became available April 26.
Two Canadians from this area, Rafal Slawinski of Calgary, Alberta and Nancy Hansen of Canmore, Alberta were not injured in the earthquake. They are attempting separate routes on the North side of the mountain.
Update: The earthquake has left 21 climbers dead, with an unknown number missing or trapped. The earthquake has left over 4600 people dead in Nepal.
