Gear Companies Giving 1% of Sales to Combat Climate Change

In a time where consumerism rules, it is pretty shocking to hear that gear companies and corporations are actually donating their sales to help the planet. 1% for the Planet is a pledge for a company to donate 1% of their sales on April 30, 2016 to nonprofits that are directly working to combat climate change. There are a variety of companies that are part of 1% for the Planet. But, here is a list of all the mountaineering gear companies that have made this pledge. View the entire list of companies that are part of this movement at

Purchasing gear is already a huge decision and investment. Make your money go further by purchasing from these gear companies. Consider these gear companies the next time you are in the market for new mountaineering, backpacking, or hiking gear. Feel good about your purchase knowing that part of your sale will help fund great things. Help keep the wilderness wild, protect endangered species, seek to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, keep our natural spaces clean, and promote sustainable agriculture and energy sectors.

Large (Patagonia) and small companies will be found on this list. Check out where the company is based to seek out an opportunity to shop local too!
