Newfoundland iceberg collapse caught on camera
This video of a dramatic iceberg collapse, posted on UTube, is truly something to behold. While out on the Bay of Exploits in Newfoundland to view this monster, Wanda Stead and her husband witnessed the unimaginable, and caught the whole event on video.
Wanda Stead caught this footage while out on the water viewing a gargantuan iceberg. When the bridge of the iceberg collapses, watch the huge tidal wave that results. Even after the arch collapses the iceberg continues to break apart, and you can see how violent the sea is beneath the iceberg from these ‘smaller’ fractures.
They were lucky that they weren’t injured.

The best place to watch these icebergs which originate in the Arctic Ocean is famously, off the coast of Newfoundland. ‘Iceberg Alley’, as the North tip of Newfoundland, and they drift both west and east of the island of Newfoundland. They frequently enter the bay in the village of St. Anthony, which is one of the best places to view icebergs in the spring.
You can clearly hear the panic in her voice as the monster iceberg collapses, and no – she is not over reacting. To give some indication of the size of this ‘berg, watch this footage she filmed earlier that day. It will give you a good sense of the scale.
