Osprey Kode 32 Backpack Review
Great size for short tours to longer one day backcountry missions.
In this video I review the popular Kode 32 Ski / Snowboard pack from Osprey Packs which we gave away last fall. I go over features and their benefits and show you what and how I pack for a typical day of backcountry ski touring. This pack is great for slack country (side country), lift serviced skiing and boarding and even day trips in the backcountry.
Constructed from 420 denier it is built to last for years. The Airscape back panel allows ventilation between you and the pack. Adjustable shoulder and chest straps, moulded from EVA foam provide added comfort. Internal pockets and compressions straps let you set up your pack in the way you want to comfortably carry all of your gear, skis, boards etc. External hydration pocket has been added to the pack so you can quench your thirst without having to dig in your pack for that water bottle. Hip belt pockets makes it easy to access your digital camera, smart phone or other small items.
Pack Features
- 420 denier Nylon
- Panel and compression loading to accomodate skis / boards
- External hydration pocket
- Trekking pole or ice-axe attachments
- Adjustable chest and waist straps
- Internal compartments and pockets to keep your gear organized.
- Helmet Carry net on top of pack
Pros
- You can carry everything you need including skis (in A frame configuration, or on the front of the pack),snowboard, helmet and all your safety gear, extra layers and food / water.
- The fabric is extremely durable so this pack should last you a very long time and if something breaks, Osprey stands behind their product with their lifetime guarantee.
- Back panel opens fully for easy access.
Cons
- I wish the buckles were a bit bigger so you can work them easily with gloves on.
- Front pocket is a bit to short to fit a longer probe so you have to keep them at angle or put it in the main compartment.
